This 108-minute video covers all the activities at the 2006 East Coast Drag Times Hall Of Fame Reunion Weekend in Henderson, NC. The weekend began with a cruise-in at Superior Chrysler/Dodge in Henderson and a great group of cars showed up to kick things off.
From there we go to a gigantic car show on Saturday in historic downtown Henderson. I am not sure how many cars were there but I know there were too many to capture on video. I did profile most all of the cars in the drag race area and we found everything from old gassers to Funny Cars. I did an interview with Ed Kohler of the Kohler Brothers Racing Team and he gave me the history of the old King Kong Anglia that he and his brother raced back in the 1960's.
The video also includes interviews with Bob Rosetty owner of two Nostalgia Funny Cars, Ed Miller former Super Stock World Champion, Al Joniac Hall of Fame racer from the 1960's and 1970's and Tommy Grove former Factory Ford Racer. We also did a special story on Linda Vaughn who was a special guest at the show.
This show has become famous for its street burnout contest and I captured all the action. You will see how Jack Redd flag starts an impressive group of cars on the streets of Henderson. Great stuff.
The final segment of the video is the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony held on Sunday morning. The video includes a short introductory profile of each inductee and shows them receiving their award. This impressive list of inductees included: The Barnett Bros, Dave Bishop, the late Al Brown, Jerry Coley, Sonny DeCesaris, Gwyn Hartsoe, Billy "Cigar" Holt, Carroll Hynson, Wayne Jeffers, the late Jake King, Jim & Allison Lee, Mike "Mashie" Mihalko, Earl "Skeets" Phillips, Ernie Shorb, Dan Smoker, Wendell Snowden, the late Bill Tanner and Linda Vaughn. I have included a short video introduction for each inductee featuring vintage movie footage of their racing heritage. Neat stuff.
